Athens-Clarke County Fire and Emergency Service's - contains the nine fire stations, strategically located throughout the county, and their associated personnel. These firefighters perform many tasks and functions including: Fire suppression, Hazardous materials response, Water and rope rescue, Vehicle extrication, Searches for missing or lost persons, and response to most any other kind of emergency call.
Athens-Clarke County Fire and Emergency Service's fleet of front-line equipment consists of nine engines (one at each station), three ladder trucks, two rescue trucks, and two battalion chiefs. Additionally they have a tanker truck, a hazardous materials truck, and two small boats, all of which are cross staffed by personnel normally signed to an engine, ladder, or rescue.
